FINE ART
What I can’t design my way out of.
Most of my professional work as a designer is about solving problems—figuring out what isn’t working and finding a path forward. With a canvas, it’s different. Color, form and texture don’t always need to make sense.

ARTIST’S NOTE
Making things without knowing where they’re going has made me a better designer.
I spend a lot of my professional life thinking about intention. Every choice should have a reason. Every problem should eventually have an answer.
Painting has taught me to be more comfortable when neither of those things is true. I’ve learned when to keep working and, maybe more importantly, when to leave something alone.
Not every good idea begins with a rationale, and not everything needs to be understood before it’s worth exploring.
